This fourth Anthology of Original Writing from Ireland's Own includes 40 short stories and memories pieces from the latest annual writing competitions run by Ireland's leading family magazine, supported by Dublin self-publishing company Original Writing.
This collection reveals again the level of untapped writing talent there is out there just waiting to be discovered, with contributions included from seventeen Irish counties and from Britain.
These stories touch on many aspects of Irish life from the past and in the present day, with joyful themes interspersed with bereavement and emigration, told with pathos, nostalgia and a dash of humour.
The memoirs included vary from the famous Jacobs Jim Figgerty advertising campaign of the 1960s to an unusual spreading of the ashes in Cork, and they will evoke a response from many people. Some of the writers have been published before, but for the first timers this may be a first step on the road to a literary adventure.
